The one that catches my utmost attention is Kevin Carter (1960-1994), a South African photographer known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning photo of a starving child stalked by a vulture while on her way to a food center during the 1993 famine in Sudan. A few months after receiving the award, Carter committed suicide due to depression triggered by haunting memories of violent deaths and extreme poverty.
